The New & Improved Zing Triangle!

The New & Improved Zing Triangle!

The Zing triangle combines the three macronutrients essential for peak performance—adequate protein, good carbs, and good fats. Taken together these three “macros” nourish our bodies and enliven our taste buds. This is why they are also the cornerstone of each and every Zing Bar.

HIGH PROTEIN

When you’re thinking about the protein in your daily diet, consider these two questions: “am I getting enough protein?” and “am I getting quality protein?” In general, we need about 46-56 grams of protein daily, depending on weight and activity level. Protein can help boost metabolism, build muscle, and supply the nutrients for cell repair and maintenance. The type of protein you take in contributes to this; some proteins are loaded with saturated fats, while most soy-based proteins contain GMO by-products and are poorly utilized by the body (only about 70% compared to the proprietary rice protein in Zing Bars which is about 98%). Quality protein contains all 9 essential amino acids, making it a complete protein.

Of course, we take all this into account when crafting each Zing bar flavor to be both delicious and nutritious. All Zing bars hit the snack bar “sweet spot” of 10 to 13 grams of complete protein per bar from nuts, nut butters, quinoa, proprietary rice protein, and peas.

GOOD FATS

“Fat” doesn’t necessarily mean “bad”. Why? Because the type of fat makes all the difference. “Good fats” include monounsaturated fats, such as those found in nuts and seeds, as well as polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, which can be found in fish, walnuts, and flaxseed. Collectively, these good fats can help fight inflammation, lower our “bad” cholesterol (LDL), and raise our “good” cholesterol (HDL), all of which can aid in heart health. On the other hand, “bad fats” include the saturated fats found in meat, cheese, and milk, as well as the trans fats found in hydrogenated oils, which have been linked to cardiovascular disease.

Fat is an essential nutrient of the body because it contributes to cell composition and the maintenance of a healthy metabolism. As such, all Zing bars include a healthy dose of “good fats” from all-natural nuts and seeds.

GOOD CARBS

What’s a “good” carb? “Good” carbs are low in sugar, high in fiber, and won’t spike your blood sugar. Scientifically speaking, they are complex, low-glycemic, and provide your body with sustained energy. These carbs are found in fruit, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. On the contrary, “bad” carbs are the “simple” and processed carbohydrates that are digested quickly by your body, spiking your blood sugar levels while contributing almost no real nutrients to you over time. These carbs are found in refined sugars and grains, such as those in soda, sweets, and white bread.

To that effect, all Zing bars contain “good” carbohydrates that are high in fiber, low in sugar, and low-glycemic, resulting in steady energy for hours after eating.

At Zing, we are always growing, both as a company and as trained professional nutritionists. That also means we are always learning and finding new ways to communicate and celebrate the one-of-a-kind nutrient profiles found in each and every Zing bar. This newly revised design of the Zing triangle connects each of the macronutrients through the lines of its three angles, better illustrating how all three macronutrients work together to provide a deliciously balanced profile of protein, good carbs, and good fats—exactly what makes Zing bars so unique!
